  3. Q. The program asks me for a userid and password.  What do I do?
  4.  
  5. A. Default userid is USER1 and password is PASS1.  Registered users receive
  6.    an administrator program that lets you set up individual user ID's,
  7.    as well as security restrict certain options to protect the integrity 
  8.    of the database, as well as prevent abuse.  
  9.  
  10.  
  11. Q. When I go into some screens it goes to another screen that says 
  12.    "Action: Record will be added".  Why does it do that?
  13.  
  14. A. The first time you access a database, if the database is completely empty,
  15.    it goes to the screen to add information automatically.  If you don't want
  16.    to add information, just depress "ESC" to back out.
  17.

  19. Q. How often do you come up with new versions?
  20.  
  21. A. As this is a new program it is difficult to say, but based on our other
  22.    products, we have been releasing upgraded versions several times per
  23.    year.  Our registered users receive notification about new versions, bug
  24.    fixes, etc.  Also we are fast approaching the point where we will only be
  25.    offering the upgrades to registered users, and not issuing evaluation
  26.    copies.  This means that registered users have knowledge of and access to
  27.    the latest versions, as well as utilities to make more specialized reports,
  28.    improve file management, convert other file types, many other features,
  29.    as well as support services.

  31.    Also, these utilities will not be distributed as shareware, and will
  32.    ONLY be available to registered users.

  34. Q. The program MAIL is over 562 K bytes. How can I run this on a 640K
  35.    machine?
  36.  
  37. A. The program uses "embedded overlays".  This means that the program is
  38.    broken up into several "modules" that are only loaded into main memory
  39.    from disk when needed, into a single shared "overlay area".    This reduces
  40.    the main memory requirement to less than 440K.

  43. Q. How are "embedded overlays" different?
  44.  
  45. A. Embedded overlays put all the individual modules in one big ".EXE" file,
  46.    rather than individual files.
  47.  
  48.    We use embedded overlays to give you maximum flexibility, using minimum
  49.    main memory space (ram cram), and minimum disk space.

  52. Q. I've looked for other packages, and yours is unique.     How can yours
  53.    be so inexpensive?
  54.  
  55. A. We don't have the marketing costs that the big software companies have, and
  56.    are a small company.

  59. Q. Why do you encrypt the user and customer database files?
  60.  
  61. A. The reason for encrypting the user file is for overall system security,
  62.    but the customer database file is to protect security of your customer
  63.    information database.

  66. Q. What happens if I need technical support?
  67.  
  68. A. All registered users are given a telephone number to receive technical
  69.    support.  We also publish technical bulletins to answer commonly asked
  70.    questions and problems.

  73. Q. How much disk space should I allow for?
  74.  
  75. A. That depends on the size of your company and the amount that you use
  76.    each feature.  We would recommend as a MINIMUM 1 MB, and preferably
  77.    2-3 MB.

  80. Q. What other programs do you offer as shareware?
  81.  
  82. A. The only other program packages that we are presently offering as
  83.    Shareware is the "Corporate Information Manager" package. This
  84.    has a LAN/Multi-user as well as a standalone/laptop version,
  85.    and is used by many companies, including several "Fortune 500's"
  86.    to improve communication and productivity.  If you would like to receive

  90. Q. What programs are you planning or developing?
  91.  
  92. A. We are working on a sales tracking system, as well as a friendly E-Mail
  93.    system.  These are scheduled to be released during the first half of
  94.    1992.

  96. Q. What if I want a custom version, or special reports?
  97.  
  98. A. We do program customization, and our rates are very reasonable.  As our
  99.    programs "source code" and security systems are proprietary, we do not
  100.    release our source code to anyone.
